Solar for Peenya's factories and workshops
Peenya is one of Bengaluru's oldest and largest industrial estates, with a dense mix of small and medium units in machining, fabrication, plastics, electrical goods and packaging. Most run in daytime shifts, which is exactly when a rooftop plant produces. That makes solar a practical way to cut a recurring power cost.
Roofs are the first question
Many Peenya units sit under metal sheet roofs on steel frames. Before any panels go up, we check the sheet type and age, the purlin spacing, corrosion, leaks and the load the frame can carry. Sheet roofs usually take clamp-on mounting that avoids drilling through the sheet, but weak or very old roofing may need repair first. Older cement-sheet roofs need special care and may not be suitable for mounting at all.
Tenants and landlords
Many units are leased. A plant on a leased roof needs the owner's written consent, and the agreement should say who owns the equipment, who pays for roof repairs and what happens if the lease ends. Settle this early, because it decides whether a plant is realistic.
Sizing to your load
For most units the right size is set by daytime consumption, not by roof area alone. We look at 12 months of bills, your sanctioned load or contract demand and your shift pattern. Net metering in Karnataka covers 1 kW up to 1,000 kW, limited by your sanctioned load or contract demand. See our commercial and industrial solar page for the numbers and tax points, including the 40% depreciation rule.
Practical checks in a crowded estate
- Shade from taller neighbouring sheds and chimneys.
- Space for the inverter and protection panel near your main distribution board.
- Safe working at height and fire access to the roof.
- Compatibility with a diesel generator, if you run one.
Electricity company
Peenya is served by BESCOM, so applications go through BESCOM's solar rooftop portal. Our subsidy and net metering guide explains the route and the current export tariffs.
Next step
Send your last 12 bills and a photo of the roof. We will tell you whether the roof is suitable and what size makes sense before arranging a survey.
